If you’re visiting the Pigeon Forge area you will need to make sure a visit to Dollywood is on the list. If you’re visiting Pigeon Forge during the summer months, make sure you check out the theme park and the water park. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains with plenty of high-energy rides, cool waters, and even a children’s area for Dolly’s Splash Country’s littlest visitors, there’s a way for everyone to enjoy a refreshing day out in the sun of the beautiful Smoky Mountains region.
Little Creek Falls
When many signs throughout the park will say that guests under 48” must be accompanied by someone over 48”, Little Creek Falls turns that message on its head. If you’re over 48”, tall you must be accompanied by a child less than 48” tall. The space is created just for the park’s youngest and smallest guests. A children’s pool, smaller slides, an activity center, and more will give the little ones a special spot to cool off.
Downboat Float Trip
The 1,500-foot river is Dollywood Splash Country’s version of the popular “lazy river” attraction present at nearly every water park across the country. Float on the low-speed waters and admire the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. Steer your tub under the cascading 200-foot-tall waterfall for extra refreshment. Guests under 36” tall must wear a life jacket and be accompanied by another person age 16 or older no matter their level of swimming ability.
The Cascades
Separate from Little Creek Falls but just as fun, the Cascades is an 8,000-square-foot lagoon-style pool that features over 25 interactive elements include a giant rock grotto, 20-foot-tall geyser sprays, bubblers, slides, an activity area and more. Take a break and sit in one of the chaise lounge chairs on the surrounding deck, or rent a waterside “retreat” or waterside canopy.
Slides
What’s a water park without water slides? Dollywood’s Splash Country water park in Pigeon Forge includes a variety of slides. The Fire Tower Falls body slide drops you from 70 feet in the air along a thrilling 280-foot track. Mountain Scream offers you a choice of winding corkscrew tunnels or aggressive quadruple-drop slides and rides like Slick Rock Racer, Mountain Twist, and Tailspin Racer have you zooming down the track on a foam board. Try group tube rides like Big Bear Plunge or Raging River Rapids, or River Rush –Tennessee’s first and only “water coaster” complete with hairpin turns, dark tunnels, and four large drops along the way.
