Tennessee is a fun and interesting place to discover any time of year. Make Tennessee and the Smoky Mountain region of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge part of your next getaway. If you’re looking for a way to add some adrenaline-pumping fun to your trip, spend some time on the Pigeon River. Navigate class 3 and 4 rapids or float along and enjoy the scenery. Family-owned and operated Rip Roaring Adventures will guide you with their over 25 years of experience and certified instructors for a safe, fun time on the water with memories to last a lifetime. Ask about rates for large groups and age restrictions. You can rent wetsuits and life jackets for an extra fee.
Lower Pigeon River Trip
Brave Class I, II, and III rapids on a 1.5-hour trip on the lower Pigeon River. Take a moment to enjoy the forests, mountains, and scenery around you before heading into more rapids. The experience is available Tuesdays-Thursday and Saturdays from May-September.
Upper Pigeon River Trip
Pump up the adrenaline as you negotiate class III and IV rapids! Experienced guides will help beginners with no experience all the way up to the seasoned whitewater veteran navigate the heavy currents. The 1.5-hour trip is available Tuesdays-Thursdays and Saturdays during “Dam Release” of May-September.
Spring “Natural Flow” Rafting Trips
Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, there’s no guarantee the dam will release on the Pigeon River. During this time, our tours “go with the flow,” something that can be unpredictable. Be prepared for adrenaline-pumping class III and IV rapids, or to lean back and enjoy a serene, scenic trip through the Smokies and Cherokee national forest. Because the trip follows the natural flow, the time and duration of the trip can change. Upper Pigeon trips are available Fridays-Sundays, March – May 27, 2022.
Fall “Natural Flow” Rafting Trips
After Labor Day, the Pigeon River dam doesn’t always release for a rush of current. Fall rafting trips also follow the natural flow of the river, meaning you may encounter class III and IV rapids or float along calm waters through beautiful scenery. This natural flow also means the time of your trip may vary based on water levels. The fall season is from September 7 – October 31, 2022.
Lower Pigeon River Float Trip
Having young children or non-swimmers shouldn’t stop you from rafting the river. Float along the scenic river for an unforgettable experience. The three-hour experience is available rain or shine!
