The fall season is finally here and with it comes the cooler temps we have all been looking for and much more. One of our favorite parts of the fall season in Gatlinburg is getting spooky with Halloween. This holiday is always looked forward to by locals and visitors alike here. The city has several unique activities and events that makes for an exciting Halloween weekend each year. The same fun is ramping up for Gatlinburg this year making it an ideal time to visit for either the first or 10th time. Take a look at some things you can do for Halloween nearby in Gatlinburg and its surrounding areas:

Pigeon Forge Spooktacular

Halloween will always be holiday perfect for all ages to celebrate. Our love for Halloween started back when we were children enjoying our first trick or treating experience. When you visit Gatlinburg around Halloween, you can take your children for an exciting trick or treat experience with our neighbors in Pigeon Forge. This nearby town is just a few minutes away. Each year Pigeon Forge puts on their Spooktacular Halloween Event, an annual trick or treat experience that lets your family go trick or treating in an indoor setting. This year’s event will take place at the Pigeon Forge Community Center where local vendors and businesses will be in attendance handing out candy. Everyone in the family will also get to enjoy additional activities such as a haunted house and live entertainment. The Spooktacular Halloween Event is always free to attend. You can enjoy this year’s Spooktacular Halloween Event on October 28th from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pigeon Forge Community Center.

Ripley’s Haunted Adventure

The Halloween season is the perfect time for horror buffs to find the perfect scary activity to enjoy. Ripley’s Haunted Adventure is the area’s number one haunted house and is perfect for all ages in the family. This spooky attraction is huge at over 10,000 square feet and can be found right in Downtown Gatlinburg. A historic mansion is transformed into the spooky haunted house you will find yourself. Real actors await you around every corner to give you a fright but nothing too scary making it perfect for children too. Now that you have experienced Ripley’s Haunted Adventure you can also check out their other attractions in Gatlinburg including their Mirror Maze, 5D Moving Theatre, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, and many more! You can enjoy Ripley’s Haunted Adventure as part of their Fright Nights Sunday through Thursday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday and Saturday from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM for the entire month of October.

Kyker Farms Corn Maze

Another close community to Gatlinburg where you can enjoy fall themed activities is Sevierville. Kyker Farms will be hosting their enjoyable Corn Maze for the entire month of October. This all-ages event features all kinds of fun and excitement including hayrides, a pumpkin patch, and of course the corn maze. Since you are on the farm you can also expect some friendly animals too. Stop by Kyker Farms located at 938 Alder Branch Road in Sevierville for this all-ages experience.

Enjoy the SkyLift

One of Gatlinburg’s biggest attractions right here in the city can be found at the SkyLift. This gondola is a highlight of the city and takes you on an enjoyable ride up the mountain. The views from the SkyLift are absolutely incredible and need to be seen to be believed. Visiting Gatlinburg in the fall is a great way to get away from the large summer crowds. This means that you be able to ride the SkyLift (which is free!) whenever you want. This October you can also purchase tickets for the Smoky Mountain Sunrise at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park. This early morning event lets you take in the views at sunrise for truly magical views. Guests will be able to hop on the SkyLift right before dawn and have complimentary coffee and live music on the SkyDeck. Best of all this event will also get you into an exclusive sneak peek at the SkyTrail which has yet to open to the public. The Smoky Mountain Sunrise will be taking place every Tuesday and Thursday of October; the SkyLift begins loading around 6:30 AM getting you up to the SkyDeck just in time for the sunrise!
