Although the largest part of our job at Kaizen Rentals is ensuring that the homes we offer pamper and spoil, we also like to provide guidance on things to do, places to go, and attractions that you will want to visit. Sometimes that can be the best part of our job as it reminds us of just how lucky we are to live in the shadow of the Smoky Mountains and sometimes, like today, it can also be a little bit tricky! Documenting your travels with photographs taken throughout your journey may be the part you like best, offering tangible ways to look back at these carefree days and we thought why don’t we give our treasured guests an idea on where the most photographable spots in our region may be! And even as that sounds like a good idea, even a great idea, the reality is that there are just not even words available to describe all our favorite places! We would be here all day, if we had to list them all, but will you miss something stunning if we don’t? Obviously, you can see our dilemma, but we are forging forward to provide you with a guide to some of our favorite spots!
Gatlinburg Space Needle, 115 Historic Nature Trail in Gatlinburg
As you might expect, the view from above is absolutely breathtaking and when you ride to the top of the 407 foot high observation tower, the world opens up in a stunning array of trees, mountains, and other sites, both natural and manmade. Watching the seasons change from this cloud like perch is one of our favorite activities and our own homes are lined with photos taken from this spot, as will yours when you visit and click!
The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel at the Island, 131 Island Drive in Pigeon Forge
We’re continuing with the eye in the sky theme, understanding that some of the best clicks will take place when you’re close to the clouds, and although you won’t have as much time to set up the photo from the top of this massive 200 foot Ferris Wheel, we can promise that the resulting pictures will be frame worthy! Offering a birds eye glimpse of the majestic beauty of the Smoky Mountains, as we enter the autumn season the fiery colors of fall will create masterpieces, even from the most basic of camera phones.
Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail in Gatlinburg
Sometimes you just need to slow down and appreciate all that surrounds you and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail offers the perfect way to do just that! This 5-and-a-half-mile loop is a one way road through some of the most beautiful landscape available in the world and as you stop to enjoy the Noah “Bud” Ogle Nature Trail, your camera should be at the ready to frame and focus on a mountain farmstead that has stood in its spot watching the world go by for many decades.
The Old Mill, 175 Old Mill Avenue in Pigeon Forge
History comes alive at the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge, a structure that has been in use for almost two centuries! The water wheel at the Old Mill still grinds (you can even purchase Old Mill products to enjoy at home!) and the complex use of decay resistant woods when it was built, ensures that it will still be around long after we are not! The pictures taken here will also stand the test of time and the rustic beauty of the Old Mill provides an idyllic backdrop for family pictures, so maybe yours will grace the front of your annual Christmas card!
The Great Smoky Mountains
Take it from the experts, it is impossible to take a bad picture anywhere within the boundaries of the Great Smoky Mountains, aside from technical difficulties, of course! Follow the lead of countless families over decades of photography and take a family pic in front of the stone and wood sign that indicates you have arrived at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, snap a pic of a creek or river that flows through the region, or take a romantic selfie in front of any of the waterfalls found in the park.
